February is a marvellous time to visit Kefalonia with your partner or family, if you can, since around this time every year celebratory Carnivals take center stage on our island!
Various forms of Carnival celebrations take place all around Kefalonia (and in other Greek places of course) even in small villages and naturally in the larger cities of Argostoli, Lixouri and Poros!
In fact, the great variety of Carnival related events allows someone to visit Kefalonia during this season for an extended time, touring the entire island, since each city or village holds its event at a different date!
Masquerades are allowed to make fun of each other and other people, they tell jokes and participants try to guess who is behind the masks and costumes! These among many other joyful Carnival traditions!
In many Carnival events floats with giant figurines (usually themed after current news events but not only) and their masquerading crews spread the joy and fun to all the visitors!
However, not all Carnival events have only the usually carnival floats and
masquerades. Some, like that of Tzannata has festive dancing and theatrical events!
Food and drinks are also plentiful!
So, if you want to live a different, more personal and unique Carnival event come to Kefalonia for the Carnival season!
