The first hydrogen vessel in the world is now in Poros, Kefalonia!

The pioneering French vessel "Energy Observer" is now making an impressive appearance off the beaches of our Poros in Kefalonia.

The "Energy Observer" ship, which is anchored in Poros, Kefalonia, is a global phenomenon as it is the first hydrogen vessel in the world!

More specifically, according to the online encyclopedia Wikipedia:

Designed in collaboration with a team of shipbuilders and CEA-LITEN [fr] in Grenoble, this experimental vessel will be the first with autonomous means of hydrogen production on board, without emitting greenhouse gases by using renewable energy sources. The ship will produce and store hydrogen using seawater thanks to an energy mix that includes: 3 types of solar panels covering an area of 130 square meters (21 kW peak), 2 vertical axis wind turbines (2 x 1 kW), 1 traction kite, and 2 reversible electric engines (2x41 kW) for hydrogenation, 1 lithium battery (106 kWh), 1 desalination unit, 1 electrolyte, 1 compressor, 1 fuel cell (22 kW), and 62 kg of hydrogen. The complete hydrogen system weighs 2100 kg.

Finally, for English speakers, and not only, there is also a video online about this remarkable French vessel which you can watch here:
