Even though it didn't have the support of one of the big Hollywood production companies the outstanding Independent film "The Outpost" by the remarkable Director Rod Lurie and staring the extremely talented actors Scott Eastwood, Caleb Landry Jones and Orlando Bloom has managed to win many distinctions in the past difficult year!
Firstly, with its premiere in the summer of 2020, on the internet and in a few movie theaters due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it managed to come out according to the authoritative Forbes magazine number one in online sales, giving well deserved smiles to all its remarkable contributors in this difficult time!
In fact, there have been rumors from the beginning that "The Outpost," which is based on true-to-life events in the war in Afghanistan as described in the book by renowned CNN journalist Jake Tapper, will be critically acclaimed at the Oscars as it has from the onset garnered rave reviews.
Recently, the film "The Outpost" won the award from the prestigious American organization "National Board of Review" to be included its "Top 10 Independent Films" of the year!
In today's publication the credible Variety Awards Editor Clayton Davis included "The Outpost" American War Film twice in his 2021 Oscar Nominations Ballot!
Clayton Davis included "The Outpost" for two categories "Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling" and "Best Achievement in Sound."
However, in past publications Variety has included "The Outpost" movie in its list of the 10 Best Movies of the Year and although an underdog, in no less than 11 categories for 2021 Oscars!
With the March 15, 2021 Academy Awards nominations soon to be announced we can only wish that my favorite movie of the year "The Outpost" is nominated for all of the surely many Oscar categories for which it is eligible!
