With smiles, rose petals, mandoles, and wonderful kantades, the Cultural Association of Poros Kefalonia “O Prohnisos” set the perfect tone for the start of the summer tourist season.
The Association’s members, led by the tireless President Aspasia Seriatou and with the support of Spyros Katsouris Travel Agency, organized a particularly warm and well-executed event on the afternoon of Wednesday.
Traditional Kefalonian women’s costumes filled the streets of Poros with color and grace: from the harbor and the central square to the main roads and Agios Grigoris. The women of “Prohnisos” distributed wishes, smiles, rose petals, and traditional mandoles to both tourists and locals, creating a warm and hospitable atmosphere.
The highlight of the event was the boat trip around Poros Bay aboard the day-cruise boat of brothers Yannis and Ilias Valsamis.
The excellent kantadores — Spyros Bourboulis, Spyros Theotokatos, Christos Dilos, and Menelaos Sotiropoulos — accompanied the procession through the streets of Poros with beautiful Kefalonian and Ionian kantades, moving everyone who crossed their path.
Walking joyfully alongside them was the President of the Local Community of Poros, Odysseas Galiatsatos.
In this unique, authentic, and heartfelt way, Poros sent a clear message that hospitality, tradition, and optimism are its strongest assets for the new tourist season.
Special mention must also be made of the well-known restaurant "Korali", which generously hosted and offered a rich dinner to all participants.
